The Amazing Race Philippines contestants revealed
Amazing Race fans, The Amazing Race Philippines (or TARP) is arriving real soon. Airing will start on October 29 from Monday to Friday at 9PM which sucks since I’m at work during that time.
The show is hosted by Derek Ramsay and looks like it will be just a nationwide race so the 11 pairs of contestants won’t be flying out of the country.
There are two rules that’s new to me which benefits the first placer on the first leg. The Salvage Pass that allows the first leg winner to save the losing team on the first leg, or use it to gain several minutes’ headstart on the second leg. They also get the Express Pass which they can use to skip any challenge in the race.
Anyway, here are the contestants for the first ever The Amazing Race Philippines.
Marc (42) is a consultant in many gyms and health centers while Kat (27) is a marketing professional. Both are gym buddies who have performed alongside each other in various competitions, winning several awards. They shouldn’t have any problems with physical tasks but Marc has a fear of heights while Kat is squirmy when it comes to eating exotic foods.
Saida (24) and Jervi (23) are best friends who met while working at Eat Bulaga. Saida was a mainstay dancer, while Jervi worked as the program’s floor director. They consider themselves the ultimate mix of beauty and brains on the race.
Crystel (25) and Mikey (33) are from Pampanga. Both also came from failed relationships before getting together and hope to overcome both physical and emotional challenges that await them in the Race.
Brothers-in-law Fausto (33) and Dayal (27) are both from Pasay. They said that aside from strong family bond, they are able to communicate well with one another. Fausto is the calm and collected one while Dayal is the extrovert with a temper.
No introductions here if you’re a fan of the Azkals. Brothers Anton and Arman are tough footballers who are physically fit and with strong personalities. Right off that bat, these two will be the team to beat.
Pam (40) and Vanessa (35) are the energetic and accomplished homemakers from Alabang. They are fluent in several local dialects which they say will be an advantage for them in the Race.
Celebrities LJ and CJ have been buddies for more than 10 years. LJ also joined Fear Factor Philippines a few years ago while CJ was a cast of TV5’s Felina.
Sheena (30) and Gee (28) have been friends since college. They both love dancing and if Sheena looks familiar to you, she’s a member of the Philippine All-Stars. Gee, on the other hand, used to be a video jock for ABS-CBN’s Music UpLate.
Boom (27) and Cheng (40) are avid motorcycle riders and both are single fathers who went abroad to support their families. There are Valenzuela’s own “Bash Brothers” and are very confident on and off-camera.
The eldest and youngest belongs to the father and daughter tandem Ed and Angel from Pampanga. Angel is fond of travelling and exploring the great outdoors, while Ed considers himself a free spirit. Both have established careers in media, Ed in publishing and Angel in broadcasting – PTV 4 Reporter.
The hottest female duo would be foreign-raised Danielle (22) and Michelle (23). Dani represented our country in the 2008 Miss World pageant in South Africa while Mish is an entrepreneur and a budding event host. Both are avid runners so let’s not take these girls lightly.
There you have it guys. So what do you think of the contestants for the first run of TARP? Who will you be rooting for? If I’m to make a prediction, top three would be the Azkals, Fausto and Dayal, and Dani and Mishi.
